Peels

There are numerous chemical peels available varying in strengths and intensities. Getting back to normal social and work activities is of paramount importance and hence the side effects of peels is important.
In most cases there is some flaking or peeling of the skin in the first few days afterwards.

What does the treatment involve?

The treatment generally involves applying a light acid to the face. After a certain time the product is neutralised and the skin cleansed. The skin will feel tight and may feel warm.

When will the peeling start?

Depending in what peel was used the peeling can start from 24-48 hours after application.

How long will I peel for?

This again varies on the type of peel used, but generally 2-5 days.

  • Question: Will I need more than one session?

    Answer: That depends on your age, sun damage, genetics, skin care program etc. After the first session we can decide if another is required or not. In most cases a yearly maintenance peel is required.

  • Question: Can I go into the sun?

    Answer: You can but must adhere to the aftercare instructions. It is vital to wear sun protection – hat, and UV sunscreen. The new skin is very susceptible to burning and pigmentation.
