Most patients will have a small surplus of fatty tissue somewhere that can be harvested for good use.
Fat transfer can help in re-volumising the areas that have lost volume due to the ageing process. Most commonly these are the cheeks, tear troughs, temple and upper eyelids.
The added extra effect of fat transfer is that the fat also contains stem cells, which seem to have an additional rejuvenating effect.
It is performed as a day case under local anaesthetic and IV sedation. You will be able to go home shortly after the procedure.
It is seen as a more natural treatment as it is your own fat and you can not react to it or reject it. There is also less likelihood of lump formation.
Alternative still include fillers – these come in various forms of density.
